Hey ya'll, I would like to get rid of my front license plate thing and I was wondering how do ya take it off?? It's on there from the factory and was just wondering what would be the best way to take it off.

or....remove valence, do hill climb while being unlifted....and it'll come right off and be left up a mountain somewhere. sure...it'll leave rivets there...but you got your job done. then just take a hacksaw to your remaining rivets like i did

^^^ that seems like the best plan yet!!! I just used a tree to remove my valance, once it was off i ended up melting the plastic holder while trying to drill out the rivits then I just broke the rivits off. Hill climbs and Trees FTW!!!

in other words, the plastic bracket ripped through the rivets, then i took hacksaw to the rivets an removed them.

IF you ever needed to install it again, I used 1/4" bolts with washers and bolted it to the bumper.

I think I remember reading a nice HOWTO write up in the howto submission section. Had stuff on how to plug up the holes left by the rivets as well.

Because if it is removed the wrong way you can mess up the air flow to the intake on a 3.0.
That means other mods such as recurving the fog filter.

Tha's ok 99ranger4x4, I forgive you this time! It ain't the first time. I love the ideas ya'll, and no, to answer the question I'm not trying to do a sledge hammer mod to my bumper, grill, or hood. I ain't up there yet! lol

I'll try a combo of hacksaw and drill to get it off. Thanks for the suggestions! Even though I've learned a lot on here, I still have questions.

go back up to my pic :D dunno if you have one though.

you could try a hack saw, there's less of a chance to f up the bumper if you're not careful.

So I would hack between the license plate holder and the bumper? And no I don't have one of those puppies. I'll have to saw it off the hard way....oh well....

yea, between the plastic and metal.

its not too hard to hack this stuff off, it may be hard to get the saw in there though.
