K&N or Mac

I have a 1999 3.0 flex. I'm thinking about putting an air intake on it. My local parts store said to go with the K&N, but my neighbor likes the Mac. I'm not sure. Also what’s the deal with those Rogue MAF, are they even worth it?

I have the MAC intake pipe with a bigger air filter on the end of it and I like it...can't justify spending extra money on same basic thing...Rogue MAF takes a lot of work and time and everything on your truck will have to be new(plugs, o2's, etc) and need a tuner for it...i also believe i am one of the very few with a working tune but maybe others will chime in.

Neither. Stock or Volant. You wont see any gain from an intake alone. Stock sucks in way more cold air compared tp K&N or Mac. If you must get one then get Volant. Those are one of the best out there. If you just want sound the snorkel out.

Yep!

And to add, even the Volant intake will require a modified MAF table to really benefit from it. This requires a custom tune, which requires a programmer. The volant intake will only help you when your tach needle is toward the red. Anything under, the stock intake will be sufficient. Both the K&N and the MAC intake will draw in hot air lingering in the engine bay.

I just got mine in, I went with the 01-03 so I can use the bigger MAF for my 04 ranger. Just waiting for the tuner to come. Also going to use an AEM dryflow filter, I don't have to re-oil it like the Volant and K&N.
