Missfire?

My truck is missing and i cant figure out why.
Every since i changed the plugs it has missed,I thought it was the coil pack so i changed it and still has not fixed the problem.

Only thing i have replaced is spark plug wires.

Any Ideas?

Have or haven't replaced the wire? That could be the issue.

Frank91 Jan 29, 2009 04:09 PM

oh sorry i have not replaced the wires.

chainfire Jan 29, 2009 04:10 PM

that is probably the issue

Frank91 Jan 29, 2009 04:12 PM

alright,i will change those but if that doesnt fix it,what else is there to replace?

Takeda Jan 29, 2009 04:56 PM

I agree probably the plug wires.....But, what brand plugs did you install?
If they were Bosch, that is your problem.........

manofak Jan 29, 2009 04:58 PM

did you properly gap the plugs?

Nope not really. I still have Bosch plugs in my truck and after 55706 miles I have had no problems with them.

Frank91 Jan 29, 2009 05:04 PM

yes, properly gapped the plugs. They are Motorcraft.

Takeda Jan 29, 2009 05:12 PM

Right choice in plugs!

The next thing to check is to see if you crossed a couple plug wires. The coilpack will have the cylinder numbers each wire should go to, and the cylinder numbers go 1,2,3 (front to back on passenger's side), and 4,5,6 (front to back on driver's side).

Frank91 Jan 29, 2009 05:51 PM

ok,im pretty sure i have tha cylinder numbers rite because i changed the coil pack today and thats how they were before and after i hooked them back up.

BigEdge126 Jan 29, 2009 06:52 PM

I yhink you may have a bad plug.Your problem started when you changed the plugs.Start there first.

Frank91 Jan 29, 2009 07:06 PM

Good idea.I never thought of that.

Slevin Jan 30, 2009 01:59 AM

are you sure you didnt cross wires at the spark plugs.
