My little Motor.

Needs some major helping! I just wrapped a set of 15's in 33" rubber. It lags so bad. So I was thinking about an Intake/Exhaust. And just wondering if any of you guys out there have one or the other on your ride. And was wondering what would be the best to give me some power. And would it be worth it to get it regeared?

Thanks,
Jeramy

there a few mods that are failry cheap that will relieve some of the stress on your motor and free up some HP, such as an E-Fan and new pulleys. The combination of an intake and exhaust will also help but either on its own wont give you any gains. I don't think you really need to regear with 33's, but it will help some. and then there is the ultimate mod that will help, the Bama Tuner as posted ^. I recomend picking this up, but only after you've done the cheaper things first, because the programming is specific to you vehicle and mods, and to get reprogrammed is a bit pricy.

Edit: actually the ultimate mod would be a blower from Whipple but thats a 3G mod

gears will be the number one thing to get your "kick" back, after that id do efans and a pulley, intake and exhuast wont do too much for a 3.0 other than make it suck more gas

the bamachips tuner is pricey but worth it. and it doesnt cost anything to retune for new mods. most of the settings are right on the handheld device, and if you do something majorly different, we/doug always update the tunes for free.

Im gonna be in the same boat here in a few months but have decided to go with the pulleys, e-fan, magnaflow dual exhuast, MAC intake. Just to start out but in the future i will either go programer or regear. Let me know what you decide on and how it works.

4.56 for 33" tires? are yall sure

I mean I trust your input but that seems like a tad overkill to me...

say goodbye to any gas mileage either way

at least 4.10's and 4.56's would give you a tad extra kick

So would you go to 5:13 for 35"s on a 3.0? or will the 4:56's handle that fine?

if you are asking me Zach, I've got 3:73's in my lil 2wd 3.0 xlt I'm pretty sure. I cant imagine I'd have 4:10's for any reason.

but I am very interested in what you think i'd need for 35's because I plan on rebuilding an Explorer 8.8 for the 31 spline and rear discs and I wanna put a locker in and regear before it goes under the truck

if you are asking him...buhIdunno lol

Man the 3.0 isn't that bad Zach. Get over it. It's not a ****in mustang, but it's no inline 4. 4.10s get the job done. If you overgear you can't go faster i believe. Or worse gas mileage.

If it came with 30's and you now have 33's

thats a change of 10% not to mention heavier tires.
so 33/30 x 4.10=4.51 so I'd go with 4.56's with 33's

Holy crap, 4.10's are more than enough for 33's. I had intake, programmer, exhaust, maf mod and my truck scooted along just fine. I still got about 17-18 mpg, so there is no need to regear.

4.10s will be ok, but if you have 3.73s now and are going to change them out, go ahead with the 4.56, youll get better mileage around town and the highway mileage wont be too bad with an overdrive and the larger tires. hell im going to put 4.56 in my F150 with 30s

you can look on your diff tag, let us know what the numbers are. if you have 4.10s factory, keep them, if you have 3.73s, go with 4.56s thats my vote
