my motor started pinging

my motor started pinging
i have the 99 3.0, and i was wondering the best way to clean carbon out of my combustion chamber. also while im here is there a way to run the exhaust with no cat and not get a check engine light?

Im not speaking from personal experience, but i read that using a spark plug defouler(i believe thats the name), you can gut a cat and use it on last 02 sensor.
