Frustrating Ford...
Ok. So I bought this ranger off my uncle last year. The truck had a blown head gasket. So we tore it down put new gaskets on and torqued everything down by the book. Tied up everything fired it up run like crap.. Rough idling no power. Change the plugs and wires still the same.So thought it may be the injectors so replaced them yesterday. Took a while for it to start but eventually fired up. Ran fine for a little bit then started with the rough idle again but real rich smell of gas out the exhaust..just tired of being under the hood of this thing.. Truck set for 3 1/2 years.... any help would be much appreciated..

So it's a 2001 3 litre ?
If so check the vacuum line on the fuel rail dampener, when you pull it of, there should be no fuel there _ at all.
If the diaphragm fails fuel is sucked into the engine to prevent an engine bay fire, but this off course makes the engine run like crap with a strong smell of fuel.
Also, press the accelerator all the way to the floor, this puts the computer into a "clear flood" mode and shuts the injectors off.
In this state while cranking the engine will not start, if it does, then one or more injector is leaking, but you have to do the above procedure first to eliminate that.
Clean you MAF sensor too, make sure and use the special cleaner for this and follow the instructions on the can, do not touch the MAF sensor with anything, just use the spray.
