Pulley install...need help right now
I'm doing pulleys on a 3.0 and i cant for the life of me get the fan undone. I made a tool to hold the 4 bolts on the water pump in place and used a 7/8 wrench like it says in waynes how to on the fan shaft. I tried to go counter clockwise (to the right) on the fan shaft while holding the tool i made in place. I tried using a hammer on the wrench, tried some heat and everything i can think of.
Does anyone have some advice?
Thanks
Edit
Ya... I meant clockwise

The fan shroud usually has embossed directions on which way to loosen the clutch nut. I believe that 3.0L are left hand thread and require the nut to be removed by turning it clockwise when looking at it from the front of the truck.
The nut is continully tightened as the engine spins so they can get very tight with time. I find that smacking the wrench with a brass hammer will usually break the fan nut free. John Griggs says that he uses a hammer and long chisel on one edge of the nut to get the stubborn ones to break free. Good luck.

I've been going counter clockwise with no luck. I've tried smacking the wrench but its hard to hold the tool i made from moving while knocking on the wrench. Maybe tomorrow i'll find another set of hands to help.
I guess I could try the chisel thing, but with my luck it will cause more trouble than harm.

that fan is the biggest PITA to get off, it took me and another guy and a trip to the advance store to rent the fan removal tool, we both just yanked and broke her lose. Oh and I hope if you havent done it yet do it now, PB blast those crank bolts, will make it much easier to remove those as those are a pain to break lose with that red locktite on their threads.

if someone wants to replace their water pump pulley for a lighter one they will have to take off the fan assembly. but if your not then yeah you dont need to worry about it, might jsut take a little longer, the fan blades tend to get in the way.

Thanks for the help Alon.
The alignment shop is a piece of ****. My truck goes to the right unless I hold the steering wheel and the camber is off on the driver side tire. Going to take it back tomorrow and make them re-align it for free cus that's bs.
Otherwise truck runs great and it's nice and tight again. I appreciate it. Just gotta find someone that can do those pulley's, I know they are a pain in the ***.

The way i said works like a charm, I've done quite a few 3.o's. If youg et the right tool from autozone or pepboys, it slips inbetween the pulley and the flange (the bolts hold it from slipping) it is shaped like a rectangle with only 3 sides. It slides down over the bolts. Then you just take a cresent wrench and bang with a hammer to the right...should come right off.

Any idea why my camber would be off and my tire would be leaning even after the new arms and ball joints and such?
Before I got all this work done by Alon my tires sat evenly and tire wear was good. Now with my new ball joints and such one of my tires kinda leans and the alignment shop says my cams are maxed out...
I don't understand.

Alignment shop doesn't know jack.
We did kevooo's and e had to get it aligned 3 different times...it took the third time to get the camber right.
Make sure your camber bushings are installed correctly, his weren't...by the alignment shop. I took 5 minutes and aligned them and it was almost perfect.
