Need An Idler Pulley & Gatorback Belt..

My squeak is soooooooooo bad, people hear the squeak down the road, before they even see my truck.

Where's the best place to get a new idler pulley? New belt?

And, when I am doing it, is it worth making a 'How To' on it? lol

-thanks in advance.

I've got a spare gatorback. I'll send it to you. PM me your address. When I went to the underdrive my current belt became I'm using shorter ones.

Well, whatever, lol. You can give me another year's membership or something if you really want to.

Christian you're 3.0 right? I had exact same problem. A new belt won't fix it correctly.

Two options,

New pulley, from Ford, should be about 43 bucks(was for me). Will fix squeal, and of course you put a new belt on it.

Why not upgrade to Graniteguy's underdrive pulley though, unless you don't really need a few extra ponies. Then you get new Pulley and belt, and part of cost is deferred cause you'd hafta pay X amount anyways.

But my nasty squealing wasn't fixed by a new belt completely, it could still happen. It was something wrong with the pulley.

Well, whatever, lol. You can give me another year's membership or something if you really want to.
Jus give him some wire, a few different sized resistors, and 3 LEDs and he'll be happy.

Christian, does the squeek happen whenever the engine is running or only at certain times. I asking because I get a loud pitched squeek whenever I mash the gas hard and quick and it only does it for a second. Would the idler pulley be my problem and if so is it hard to change? I was thinking it might be the tensioner pulley but I wasn't sure. Any help would be appreciated.

tommy told me idler pulley.

it is when i give it gas.

when "idling" there is no squeak.

i will know when i get the new belt, and change it all, if that is it...

I have 96k on my truck and have put 4 idler pullys and 3 belts.. because of a squeek and it was the idler and belt every time...

most of the time it is the idler that is making the noise... not always .. can be alt. or tensioner.. i would have to hear it...
as far as changing the idler its very easy...take the belt off and loosen the bolt that hold the idler pully on ..take it off and replace with new idler pully and put belt back on ..pretty easy..
