NOOB help...engine leaking PINK

hey guys

i have a 2006 3.0 V6....

it has been leaking small amounts of a pink liquid for quite a few months ( i am going to say atleast 6 months)

when i have gone for an oil change , they say nothing is leaking, but something ovviously is. the leak is dead centre in the middle of my engine, as the evidence on my garage floor shows.

anyway, today my check engine light went on. Transmission fluid seems okay (below the xxxxxxx on the dip stick when hot )

any ideas? do you think this will be a $$$ repair?

help me out :disappoin

wait what.... that's definitely trans-fluid. its suppose to be in the middle of the crosshatches not below.. absolutely not good. fill that ASAP yes it is big money to replace your trans.. or have work done to it. tranny fluid is pink and smells like sh!t.

Your truck could be on its period

Seeing as it's an 06, you probably don't have any warranty left, but pink is tranny fluid. I'd get that checked quickly. Crawl underneath the truck with a trouble light (or flashlight) and try to locate the source of the leak. It could be a few areas on the tranny.

should i fill with the engine cold? or while hot?

is there a compartment to fill, or do i fill through the dipstick and use a funnel?

after filling to the proper area, will this turn off the check engine light, or does it need to be reset?

either way, it looks like ill have to take it in....

hot, fill it thru the disptick, only way to do so. Pull the battery cable off and let it sit for a good 15 minutes, that will reset the computer. If it turns on again go to an autozone and have it scanned for free.

mmm...

What color is your coolant? 06 might have been new enough to use the PINK coolant, and we all should know the 3.0's cronic water pump gasket leak....

LOL, I wish the water pump gasket was the common issue......it's actually behind the water pump. The timing chain cover needs to be removed along with a million other things.

The Ford power steering fluid I use in my 2.3L is red or pink.
