oil dipstick tip has broken off - need a measurement
1 Attachment(s)
The tip of the oil dipstick has broken off and is IN the oil pan, BUT
that is causing no issues -- the issue is that I have no way to check the oil level. The 1988 dipstick ISN'T available as far as I can see, so if anyone could measure how long THE tip to the letter "E" is I think I could buy a generic oil dipstick and figure the rest out. Part number E67E-6750-AC is stamped on the dipstick - see pic |
Don't have that engine so can't tell you the length
But I have been in the same boat on other engines, i.e. missing or broken dipstick which is no longer available I hit the wrecking yards, with the vehicle They have LOTS of dipsticks Find one that fits in the tube and is long enough then cut to length as needed You can grind notches in it for correct levels You have the broken one so should be fairly easy to go thru what they have and get one a little longer to test DO NOT use a longer dipstick in the engine while it is running, cut it first, once you have an oil level |
Well thank you, this will help in doing it right.
