where is this suppose to be bolted? I just noticed it the other day, it looks like its been off for a wile.

 

it looks like the stud broke off from the Rear exhaust manifold bolt hole. if you look to the left in the picture at the rear of the head there is no stud sticking out like there is supposed to be in through the manifold.

 

wow I didnt even notice that. lol I looked all over there to. Wonder how it broke and how it ended up on the other side of that good stud, its hard to move around and you have to pull out on it to get it over that stud.

Well how would I go about fixing this? It doesn't seem to leak, and I think its been that way for a good wile now.

 

My dad owns a Machine shop in Michigan and we fix this all the time. The smart way is to take the whole head off and replace all the studs because they don't look good. You can also leave the head on tho, you'd have to see if you can get the stud out by either drilling it or heating it up and trying to twist it out with vise grips. either way it looks like you have to take the manifold off tho and the rest if the studs will probably break in the process.

Sounds like something that wont get fixed anytime soon since Im broke.

Im starting to think more and more that I would be better off selling the truck rather then fixing all the stuff wrong with it, by the time I fix everything I could buy the truck over again. I just dont think I ever could, I would miss it to much.

 

I feel the same way about mine. my truck eats the **** outta outer tie rods, and I just did the rear leaf spring shackles and mounts the completly rusted out (go figure, I live in Michigan, if you don't like the wheather, wait an hour, it'll change.). I had to buy another car because It felt like my truck was down so much. but its off to paint next week. Its a 2000 but it will look like an 2004 when im done. It has a 05 tailgate, 04 front bumper and valance and 06 badges. I've had thoughts off selling it but then I did the math and its cheaper to maintain it then have a new car payment every month.

 

yea it may end up cheaper in the long run. Mine the frame has bad rust damage on the bottom lip(like chunks of the frame come off), trans is so bad its getting to where i cant drive it, balljoints are so bad they are dangerous, paint is torn up and down to primer down the top sides of the bed, tires got a couple 100 miles left on them, rear bumper is rusted and bent, front bumper is bent, has a leak in the brake system somewhere, shocks are dead, the bed has rusted through holes(luckly where you cant see it), and the list goes on. Ohh and now this.
I have already replaced the core support, change some a/c parts and a bunch of other stuff.

It may end up being cheaper for me to save up and sell this truck, then with the saved money and money from the truck I could probably get another in better shape.
