do i have to have the special tool

do i really need the tool to put in a cmp and synchronize, i can't find one at the local auto stores

How to install without tool this for a 3.8l but i am confident the procedure is the same. Let us know how things work out. If that doesn't work then you know you'll need the tool for sure. Don't sweat it it's not rocket science, although if you don't keep up with automotive technology it might as well be.

no, you don't need the tool and it probably makes things more complicated anyway.

just mark the old sensors location, yank it out and put the new one in.

I have done it this way ^^^ with good results. A quick photo or two may also be helpful.
