I just bought a programmer for my 03 3.0L RWD and its saying my truck needs a software update to continue with the programming. Has anyone else had this problem? I don't wanna show up at a dealership and look like a total idiot or without enough money for them to do it

 

There is a PCM update at the dealership it is around $100. The programmer should not be giving you this error message. What programmer is this ?

 

Its a Jet chip power programmer. The company claims I need the PCM to be up to date so I can get the most out of tuning it

 

I have the same issue on my 96 Ranger, 3.0 RWD manual tranmission.
I tested it on, at least 5 Rangers (all the same, 1996 3.0) and on all scenarios the programmer gave the same error message: "SOFTWARE NEEDS TO BE UPDATED".
Could you solve this? if so, how did you do it?
Any input will be appreciated!!!
