PO303, P0304 and P0305
2003 Ranger Edge 3.0 auto with 198k.
Was running fine and at stop sign it started running BAD with CEL on. I was only a couple miles from home so I was able to limp home. It was running TERRIBLE! This AM I went to Autozone to get them to pull the codes and PO303, P0304 and P0305 came up along with a few others. Misfires in 3, 4 and 5. I suspect the other codes are caused by the misfires. Any ideas where to start before I start throwing parts at this thing? I am the original owner so I know it’s history. Thanks in advance. |
Welcome to the forum
When did you get gasoline last? Reads like some "bad" gas Takes 1 to 2 days before the water in the bad gas settles out and causes running issues, can happen sooner just depends on how much water was in that gas Water and gasoline can't "mix" and water is heavier than gasoline, so when vehicle sits the water settles to the bottom of tank and thats where fuel pump sucks in "the gas" So if it happened just after vehicle sat for a few hours...................... Its the "all of a sudden" thing that pointed at this And maybe a fuel pump issue, it can/will happen suddenly |

Cylinders 3, 4, and 5 don't have much in common, 3 and 4 do share 1 coil in the coil pack
1 and 5 share another coil in the pack Firing order for 3.0l is 1-4-2-5-3-6 The cam sensor failing can cause misfires but there for sure would be Cam sensor failure codes along with misfire codes The sudden onset is the main thing to focus on, a crack in coil pack could explain it but long shot A broken larger vacuum hose as well, or hose popping off And, of course, computer failure but that's way way down on the list |

PO128 coolant thermostat. (Below operating temp) P0316 misfire on startup P0171 system too lean P0300 random misfire |
