no it will not be, no 93 came with a 2.9 so your trans, wiring, mounts etc will not work

I'm not sure how reliable my source is...but i was told that all rangers have the same frame...

I'm not sure if he was right but I do know that a 93 ranger is essentially the same except for body so it should work mounting wise but you'll need a new harness and tranny as said before, also 4.0's are a better motor if you have an option.

But if you want to stay in the cheap find yourself another 2.3.

I dont know if i would replace the 2.3 with a 2.9 cause the 2.9 had lots of head problems and if you wanted to up to a V6 go to the 3.0 or the 4.0 or to keep cost down just another 2.3
Me id just swap another 2.3 in it i wish i had a 2.3 in mine

The 2.9 will physically fit in the frame, but you will have some issues getting it to work.

The transmission bell housing won't match up. You will at the very least need a new trans and computer. Ideally a whole parts truck if possible.

IIRC, the Vulcan 3.0L V6s and 4 cylinders have the same bellhousing bolt pattern, and the 2.8L, 2.9L, and 4.0L Cologne V6s are common - so a 2.9L will not bolt to the 4 cyl tranny. Being that your truck is 2wd a swap would be pretty simple, just get a matching tranny for the engine you're swapping in and the mounts, and go from there. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out the rest. LR

yea forget that 2.9 like was already said they had head problems ... if you cant find another lima 2.3 you can throw a 2.5 in if you want, a banned member put a 99 2.5 into his 95 2.3 ranger
