is it possible to cut off catalytic converters? i have noticed oxygen sensors (or at least im assuming they are oxygen sensors) after each cat on my 02 ranger edge is there any way to disable sensors/replace them or do they even do anything?

A sawzall will cut damn near anything. But why would you want to cut off your cats?
They are on there for a reason.
Most states require them for inspection.
You won't gain any measureable HP by removing them.
And yes those sensors tell the PCM how the engine is running, whether too rich or too lean.
What are you looking to gain by cutting them off?

Cutting them off will gain you little to nothing and throw a CEL, you will either need o2 sims or some form of engine management that will disable the secondary o2's.

you will get louder sound, but you will lose HP and Torque. you are wasting your time. If you want louder sound then dump it right out of the muffler. Any louder than that, and you are just being obnoxious and with your engine you will only get horrible sounds

Im happy with my cat back system, plenty loud, and deep. Also quiet when you want it to be. Some people say no muffler doesnt sound good. I agree it doesnt if you just have one small pipe or dumped undernieth, but with big pipes and nice big tips I LOVE IT! Again, I do have all the stock cats. The system is CAT back.
