Pot hole----> power reduction----> rough idle

Hello everyone,

I smack dabbed a pot hole a few weeks ago and instantly lost 80% power. Rough isle and Max speed 25mph.

I noticed by pulling plug wires that 2 cylinders are not firing. I changed plugs and ignition coil but that did not help.

Any suggestions??
Thank you!

Are the two bad pug wires getting good spark? And which two are they? If they share the same coil that may narrow the issue...

No spark

Hi Ken, thank you for the reply. There is no spark from either plug which I replaced. Cylinders 2 and 6 it appears.

Those do share the same coil. I would say either bad coil pack or bad primary voltage going in. You can back probe the primary for the coil and see if it's getting signal...

Ok thank you, how would you go about back probing the primary?

What kind of voltmeter do you have? Or do you have access to a scanner or oscilloscope?

I don't have a voltmeter, I could try and drive to Napa auto parts to get it scanned. It will drive...

They may know how to test it, not sure. With a volt meter you can test ohms in that coil. Not sure what the value should be off the top of my head. You can see what the know good reading is in the other two coils and compare it to the suspected bad one.
