Quarter mile: My results
Well its definetely a slow truck. The 3.0 just doesnt have anything in it to get a good time. I managed 19 flat @ 74mph :thumbsdow :dead: . I'm no drag car racer, so im sure it couldve been in the high eighteens with a manuel 5 speed. But anways, i raced 2 times with the same results. Last race was against my friend in his SVT Focus....he beat me by 1 car length.
Good news is, I think my dad felt sorry for me and my slow truck, so maybe he'll pitch in when it comes time to replace the engine. Can you say V8? anyone else drag race their 3.0 or 4.0? |
damn thats slow... i wonder what i would get
|
19? Even with headers and an exhaust? Oh even an intake. Maybe you should have the heads ported and polished? Bigger injectors...the list goes on. Make the 3.0 have the power of a V8.

yeah thats bad.. i have a 3.0 i ran 18 sec. with a tool box full of tools in the bed and i was on 31's with my huge ass bumper on the front..
|
wow thats slow, only went to a track once with my 02 harley f150 ran a 13.8 sold it have a 69 camaro now and i know it would kill the harley f150, running hi 12's, i would never take the edge to the track unless i had a lightning engine in it.

You may be handicapped with the altitude and temperature you are at and you probably need more track time to get experience.
A single cab should be good for a high 16. I've done it in a automatic with nothing but the underdog pulleys and I seen a manual hit mid 16''s with a homemade intake, homemade traction bars and some meaty tires. Driver skill plays a lot in the factor. I took my mach 1 out there and another guy had a mach 1. Both were stock and he kept running about 4/10's faster than me. |
my 98 3.0 ext cab auto ran a 17.9 bone stock
|
sweet... where did you go?
when i get back out to school i'd love to go, maybe get my friend to take his cummins turbo diesel too. i ran a 10.3 at 69 mph on the 1/8 mile so i'd like to see what i do on the 1/4. we definately need to meet up when i get back to school |
i bet the straight pipes hurt also....

WOW that is slow...but its a truck.....Im hoping to get mine to the track with my programmer and see what it will do on 33's...its pretty damn quick...so im hoping 16's
Rocky |

i want to have a tucson get together before classes start, just for lunch or something |
Reaction time plays no role in ET whatsoever. You could sit on the line for 5 minutes and still run a 19 because the clock doesn't start until the vehicle moves.

wow, i can run a low 18 with my automatic 4 banger
|
wasnt it proven on mythbusters that having your tailgate actually makes ur aerodynamics worse?
|
ok this is getting rediculous! what is wrong with my truck????
how could it be so slow? I'll bring it back to the track in a few weeks and try it again, but seriously, what coudlve gone wrong? btw here is my complete time slip if that helps at all...checked my rt again, i thought it was .5, but i glanced at the wrong side r/t .716 60' 2.842 330 8.257 1/8 12.443 mph 59.12 1000 16.023 1/4 19.050 mph 74.33 |
60 foot times are bad, also in the eight it shows u at 12.4 I was runnin high 9's in my 88 ex cab 2.9 ranger. How many miles on the truck, might need a good tune up.
Edit: just looked at ur signature, u should be running way lower, do you have a tuner, if not the mods might be hurtin u a little. |
that 60 tells all. You should be about 2.4. Your probably spinning and maybe don't know it. I have found that every tenth saved on the 60 ft gains 2/10's on the total run. You list 18" wheels. They weight of those could be dragging you down. Weight at the wheels hurts more than say a sub box.
