^^^^It's a serious question. I've read that it's not good to clean it too often...so I haven't cleaned it.

That past too often.

I think when they say that they mean if your filter is just dull looking or is just dusty don't clean it. Maybe tap on it and knock the crap off.

When it looks like its been smothered in mud clean it lol.

I was told to clean it when i got real dirty, basically when you can't tell the original color, its about time to clean it.

Clean it. Take the Filter off and use mild hand soap and water and let it air dry overnight. If it doesn't look good after the cleaning process then get a new one. Everyone knows that a fresh air filter performs better than an old one. That question is a somewhat of a no brainer there. Common sense should say clean it after every oil change. That's what I do with my K&N air filter which I have had for over 4 plus years now. Plus it could save you some money in the long run. Alot of people have the fear of cleaning an air filter they're afraid that it ruins them especially K&N and your air filter. Nothing could be further from the truth. That statement that people say "it ruins them" is completely inacurate. By doing this process at least you'll know if you need a new filter or not. If still looks bad after the cleaning process let it air dry overnight and repeat the cleaning process the next day using a filter recharge and cleaning kit.
