Cam sync....or is it?

2002, 3.0, 90k miles

A few weeks ago my truck started to "studder" and "hesitate" above 3500 rpm. Two weeks ago I replaced my camshaft position sensor with one from advanced auto parts (BWD brand if i remember correctly). I took it around the block twice, the problem seemed to be resolved. Maybe 2 days later on my way to work, it did it again. I don't think it is the syncronizer because the sensor I bought doesnt have the little lock clip, so it came loose at one point and the truck ran great. My oil pressure has remained constant. Does anybody have the Ford part number for the cam sensor? Even better does anyone know where I can buy it oem online? I know I should replace the syncronizer as well but current funds do not allow that.

Thanks guys I really apprechiate it.

I rebuilt my entire motor last year and replaced every sensor... And I couldn't get it to start for two months... Long story short I went through 4 crank sensors from advanced auto / autozone /pepboys... I bought one from the ford dealer and she fired right up... Just a suggestion. To my knowledge the can sensor controls fuel and timing above 3000 rpm so I think you should call your ford dealer and buy the cap from them it's simple to replace
