Sounds like a tornado under the hood???

Hey guys this is my first post...Okay so not quite sure how to describe the sound but its like a high pitched whirring/windy/blowing air sound coming from the engine compartment that gets louder as I accelerate and the rpms get higher. She's quiet as can be when im idling but it is quite annoying and embarrassing when people walking down the road turn their heads cuz they can hear me coming a mile away.

Can someone please tell me where the heck exactly this windy blowing air noise is coming from and what is causing it? I would really appreciate it as I cant seem to pinpoint it yet. I would really appreciate any input on this guys.
Thanks in advance.

Could be a frozen fan clutch.
Open the hood with the engine off.Try to spin the cooling fan.If it turns by hand really hard you need a new clutch.

Start with your intake.. loosen it all up, clean it all out, and make sure its nice and snug and tight. push everything together nice and tight and make sure there are no gaps.. taht coudl cause whistling..

Also, check for cracks in the manifold and exhaust before the two headers.. thats a common spot for rust to break through and eat a nice little hole in the tubing. That coudl cause a nasty sound.. not quite unlike what your describing.

And is your truck running just fine? I was tempted to think it might be some sort of crack in a vacuum line perhaps.

This is the most likely scenario. I had it happen and used it as my point to transition to an electric fan.

Thanks for the replies guys! I will check out the fan first, then intake and exhaust around the manifold and report back. In general the truck runs fine but I will have a look for vacuum leaks anyway.

Okay so i did what OTRtech said and turned the cooling fan by hand but it didnt feel really stiff or anything. Now I dont know how it should feel normally but there wasnt really any resistance, i could turn it with one finger...unless it's supposed to spin completely freely? Hmmm...
