Spark plug suggestions
The ranger has lil over 50k miles on it, bought it used so dont know if they have been changed. im going to assume that they have not and change the plugs in the near future. Anyone have what a good not so expensive brand plugs would be. its a 2001 3.0 4x4.
On my last ranger which was a 3.0 as well i think i had bosch platinum and changed wires at the same time with bosch, but at that time my cousin was a parts store manager so i basically walked outwith what i wanted. reason i think i need to change is my mileage has started to suck. While im there should i also go ahead and change the wires too? |
Hey this is a good thread, I'm in the same position. I've got a 2002 3.0 4x2 and have just under 50k miles. I bought the truck used from a Ford dealer but I doubt that the plugs have been changed. And are Bosch Platinum +2 bad for my engine? And I want answers to most of the questions Nathan asked. thanks in advance.

i would stick with the stock motorcraft ones or autolite which i have been told are the same. but i am sure some of the others will chime in soon and let you know what exactly to get

Hey I know Im a 4.0l guy, but I absolutely love NGK Iridium plugs and JBA wires... I can get you the wires, and you can pick up the plugs at you local parts house... You need to change your fuel filter too!!!

I've heard good reviews of the NGK Laser Platinum

I used the bosch Platinum +2's in my ranger and it they worked alright, and my truck had over 120K at the time
