spitting and sputtering

Lately my truck has been running really rough, at first I thought it was a fowled spark plug or bad wire but both seem to be in good shape. I changed the fuel filter and it had a good bit of trash and depris in it. So im thinking that, that’s the problem but its still running bad, I was wondering if there was a screen or filter in the tank that could possibly be clogged too or another filter between the main one and the motor. I was advised that if my filter was junked up that bad then some depris could have gotten into one or more of my injectors.I just don't want to spend the money and time and that not be the problem. I’ve heard of a lot of people having trouble with their cam syncro. Could that be a cause, I don’t know the symptoms of one going bad.

Btw: My truck runs really rough at red lights and under acceleration but tends to calm down some when running 65mph or so, but still runs bad. It started as a subtle rough idle every now and then and within a couple of days it got really bad. The harder I run it the better it runs but I can’t run it wide open all the time. Lol.

Any ideas and tips would be greatly appraicaited and if more info is needed please just let me know.

hey had the same kinda issue not a hundered percent sure but sounds simialar enough. If u do a compersion test and find anything there that might help. I took mine to a garage and was told that cylinders 2 and 3 had low compersion. The guy told me it needed a valve job so i replaced the heads and all that to find out the two fuel injectors from cylinder 2 and 3 were bad and making it run rough i would start there

I would check the MAF and the IAC personally.

i had this problem. changed the spark plugs, wires and coil and runs like a champ. could be your injectors. run some cleaner through it and see if it helps
