i dont think you can swap a fwd motor into a rwd truck

d0sitmatr 04-06-2010 02:59 PM

you can, the blocks are essentially the same, its the trans and mounts that are different.
that said, why would you want to swap a taurus engine into a ranger in the first place ? (unless its the SHO engine)

In LMC Truck magazine they now sell V8 engine swap parts!

my son blew the motor in his truck, and a guy at work had a tree fall on his sons taurus with a 3.0. so sounds good for a swap, as long as it can be done easy.

yeah you can i did it for my friends truck he threw a rod but you have to change your head gaskets, and oil pan. im sure there is more but i cant remember right now

My Taurus swap is a little more complicated than that. :sly:

jeepoholic 04-07-2010 05:59 PM

why the head gaskets? are the heads the same?? i think his has a bad head

Redneckstone 04-07-2010 07:00 PM

I believe heads should be the same. prob the. Intake, Valve covers, oil pan, headers, front pullies should all be different

it doesnt really matter if his heads are bad or not, if your going to take the time to swap the engine, you should take the time to change as much out as you possibly can.
replace gaskets (unless they are brand new), replace timing and anything associated with the timing, possibly the pulleys.
