Tensioner pully on 02 ranger 3.0
New here. My tensioner pully has what looks to be a star bolt. Looks unhealthy like someone has tried taking it off before. Looking for exact size and advice for taking off. Also, anyone have pics of chain placement for lifting eng and granny out? Thanks in advance. I'm a newby.

Thanks, got it off.
Welcome to the forum
The "star" heads are called Torx
They come in male and female
The 6 Ranger Bed bolts use t-55, torx-55 male
I think the tensioner is t-50 on most Fords
Socket sets are not expensive, one male set example here: https://www.amazon.com/15pc-Torque-S.../dp/B01BZKILCM

Reinstall rebuilt 3.0 in my 02 Ranger
Thanks for helpful replies. I have to take out pushrod from number 3 cyl in order to put lower intake manifold on but not sure which is #3. Also, do I use the ultra black rtv (I read in this forum to use just a little bit to keep gaskets lined up on head as well as end gaskets.) Thnx. I might have bitten off more than I can chew. Lol

Never heard of pulling a pushrod out to install an intake???
Each cylinder has two pushrods, one for intake valve and one for exhaust valve
Remember which end is UP and which was which, you need them, or it, to go back in the same way it came out
Ford numbers V6 engines this way
3 6
2 5
1 4
Front
So #3 is passenger side rear cylinder

big help, thank you. I bought Chilton book late this PM which should help a lot as well. I understand that this engine is unique reference pushrod removal prior to intake install . Also, the intake gaskets have tabs which seem to 'lock' on the bottom but the gasket has 'this end down' stamped on what seems to fit on top??? Tabs are on the bottom but is supposed to be on the top. I'm guessing the stamp got put on wrong by the 'tabs' have nothing to connect to when placed according to stamped words

Do you have the correct gasket set?
Rear Wheel Drive 3.0l Vulcan OHV engine
Ford has a few 3.0l engines and the 3.0l Vulcan was also used in Front wheel drive cars like Taurus and Sables which have different gaskets
Gaskets will NOT have install directions upside down, so something is amiss
