Timing jumped
Timing jumped
Timing chain jumped. So I followed the Haynes book as far as changing and replacing the timing chain. Now I'm guessing I didn't torque down the cam sproket bolt or something to that degree because after putting it all back together she wouldn't start. Compression in cylinder #1 was around 30 psi. Mind you I can't find a tip to thread onto the spark plug well, so I used one you have to hold in place, so I expect there to be some discrepancy. I took it all back apart and the bolt holding the cam sproket had a few messed up threads and wouldn't go back into the camshaft. I had to get a new bolt, hard as hell to find btw, and used a clean out on the cam to get the broken threads out. I started putting everything back together and noticed the timing markings were not lining up. When the crank was at 12o'clock the cam sprocket timing mark was 9 or 3 o'clock. The marks never lined up. I inserted a endo scope into cylinder #1 and watched the 4 stroke process and stopped it at TDC compression stroke. I thought about Sliding off the cam sproket and rotatating the crank to the 12 o'clock position to get things back in order since this is a non interference engine, but will this work??? And I going to mess things up??? Is there anything else I need to check??? Help
