Transmission problem

I have a 92 ranger 3.0 v6 5 speed manual. I was driving on the interstate and all of a sudden my transmission kicked out of 5th gear and now all i have is neutral and 4th gear. None of my other gears work except 4th. I managed to get it home. Im pretty sure i burnt the clutch but still got it home hahaha. Im hoping this is something simple. Im hoping its not having to boil down to replacing my transmission. For awhile now my truck has been jumping when i ease off the clutch in first and reverse. Could it be the clutch or is it something major. Earlier my truck would rev high everytime i pushed the clutch. But it stopped after i drove for awhile. Any inputs would be awesome. Thank you

Sorry, I don't know much about that trans.
If the shift arm is properly attached.... the whole trans has to be removed and either rebuilt / fixed or replaced.

Drop it and take it to a trans shop. I'd bet that between the rebuilding it and a new clutch you'd only spend $500-600

You most likely lost the Input Shaft gear, all the gears except 4th use that gear.
4th is a Direct Drive from input shaft to output shaft, 1:1 ratio

Yes, transmission will need to come out and top cover removed
Input gear is at the front and turns the counter shaft which drives gears 1, 2, 3, 5, and Reverse, it will most likely be stripped
If it was just a shift rail problem you would still have 3rd along with 4th

M5OD-R1(M5R1) is the transmission you have, and contrary to your current situation it was a very very reliable transmission, so not too risky to buy used M5R1s
But they are engine specific, you can only use an M5R1 from a 3.0l, 2.3l/4.0l/2.9l won't fit on your 3.0l engine
2WD or 4x4 also needs to match
And 1997 or earlier M5R1, these will still have speedometer gear on tail shaft if 2WD, 1998 and up will not

So if looking for trans you need a 1991-1997 M5R1 from Ranger 3.0l or Mazda B3000(3.0l engine), and 2WD or 4x4 which ever you have

These transmissions use ATF, yes automatic transmission fluid in a manual trans, some have put in Gear Oil and it can cause what you have now
