Bosch Platinum +2 Problem

Hey Guys I am new here. I have a 1998 Ranger with the regular (not flex fuel) 3.0 V-6. I changed my plugs and wires last night. I used the Bosch Platinum +2's. After putting thm in, I took it for a ride. IT ran like crap!!! It sputtered and miss fired bad. It was so bad that I put the old plugs back in. They were Autolite Platinum's. Has anyone else done this and had the same results? Thanks for your input.

it is because the Bosch plugs are JUNK!! go buy yourself a set of Motorcraft plugs from a dealer and install them.......DO NOT BUY AFTERMARKET PLUGS FOR A RANGER!

Yeah mine could have lasted longer but i have a misterious "miss" and i thought my plugs / wires needed replaced...but it still does it and its annoying as hell.....theres 1 cylinder while idling that will miss i need to get a timing light on them to see what one it is, and see if anything is wrong with the wire

autolite double platnium is what i use in my 3.0 and they seem to work the best... plus they make motorcraft plugs so its the same thing... when/if you change them again be sure they are all tight and that you put some anti sieze on the threads

if it is a problem with the wire, open your hood at night and spray a light mist of water on the engine.....it will look like a lightning storm.....that is were you can locate a bad wire...

i would try the IAC.....they aren't that expensive and can easily be replaced.....do you have an air filter that needs to be oiled? if you do, did you over oil it?

Most if all of the double platinum and Bosch are all gimmicks. Most ignition systems dont have enough voltage to use the plugs as they should so it useless. As Maurice and Rocky said I would use Motorcraft only.

i personally believe that nothing is as good as a Factory made part.......if Ford puts Motorcraft on all of their new vehicles then it is good enough to go on my vehicle.....

you are definately the 1st person to ever say that.....or maybe it was that your old plugs were so bad that you didn't tell any difference when you put in the Bosch plugs because it made it just a little better...

Guess what I'm pretty sure Honeywell makes Motorcraft, Auto lite, and champion. For some reason I never liked Champion plugs except in Briggs motors but the there is no difference between motorcraft and auto lite plugs. Just make sure you run platinum. I tried regular auto lites and the truck ran poorly. Moved back to a platinum auto lite and itz tip top.

we'll if my old plugs were bad, then there goes your whole argument, they were stock motorcrafts, lol

but no, they were perfectly fine, and i upgraded to the bosch just for something to do one day (i get bored alot) and ive had absolutely no problems with them at all

truck runs perfectly, its only 5 years old for crying out loud, it better freaking run good
