aggressive tires and a locker are a good start. also some sort of lift for bigger tires too.

"no problem" is relevant to the type of offroadin you plan on. But there is no truck that will have no problem with every type of wheeling.

spindle in the front, and a chevy shackl in the back should work well for 33s

Looks like my truck used to, lol. Click my cardomain link below and you'll see the "evolution" of my truck (an 02 but just like yours) over the last 4 years.

There's a page with pics from one of the early Centralia meets where I wheeled it stock. My cardomain site is a bit large, but theres and "index" with the pages named and linked near the top, but down a bit.

Yeah, if you're worried about your paint or body panels, do go offroading... I used to go pretty often and now I've got the "Black Paint Plague" becuase it shows every little imperfection mercilessly....

I have a fabtech spindle lift, slightly torqued t-bars, and no body lift. 35's are fine on aftermarket 15x8 (or 16x8) wheels with 3.25" (or 3.5" is good) backspacing with this setup if you mess with your flares a bit and pin them back some. Rear lift is an 2" longer shackle, and 2.5" longer block with an additional leaf from another stock pack squeezed into my original spring pack.

Be advised though that it stresses things and brakes and front suspension parts wear out much faster.

A body lift AND spindle lift is too much lift for a daily driver. The very high center of gravity makes 'em too "squirrelly" for my taste.

I get stuck more than some 4WD's, and less than others, and I get through sometimes where they don't, and vice versa.

Overall I get stuck more often -- but I no long care...I just love wheeling!

I'm converting this truck to a 4x4 and putting a solid axle on the front this spring though. Stay tuned!

Mr. John, if you don't mind me asking. Why is part of your grill shell taken 'apart?'

Mr. John Griggs is awesome offroad. I'm lucky to have met him on several occasions and ride with him. He goes with the 4x4's with no problem.

Brenton, I broke both sides in tight woods up against tree limbs believe it or not. They split and then the splits began to "run" so I whacked off the ends to prevent them running further.

Then, when I notched the bumper to set the winch further in, I cut them all the way back to the grill (or is it grille?...) shell to make it look less stupid -- well a little less anyway, lol. I sprayed the area behind it black.

Actually, it's an interesting look. If you look at pictures since I cut them off completely, the black under the headlights looks like the eye black football players put under their eyes, lol.

Yes, I play with the 4x4's, Jon, but they do best me most of the time -- which is as it should be. Thanks for the kind words though!!!

If you're going to drive a 4x2 offroad, especially when it is lightly or unmodified, you need to be out with capable people, make sure you have tow hooks front and rear, and be patient with yourself and your truck while you figure out what works and what doesn't.

You also have to really like offroading, because you will be in frustrating situations more often than your buddies with 4WD and equivalent modifications.

That's what it really comes down to: you have to love it and be patient. Over time, you can equip your truck to do more. If you really want to get to the next level, you have to mod or replace your truck to 4WD though.

I like my truck so much, I'm converting it.
