3.0's take forever to warm up?

My temp gage comes off the peg in the first mile, and warm air comes out of the face vents.

Fully warmed up by the time I hit the 3 or 4 mile mark.

Have you replaced the thermostat?

FWIW, my fan clutch disengages before I hit the end of my street, but it is considerably warmer here in NE NC than Buffalo, eh?.

I hate how mine takes forever. I get up at 4:30 everyday to go to work and sometimes I have to wear 3 layers just to warm up before I get there. Even for southern california it can get pretty cold in the mornings.

Why would the fan effect it if the thermostat is working? If it is properly closed, the water in the engine is not affected by the fan until the engine warms and the thermostat opens. Also if electric fan, it should not be running if the engine is cold. Not saying anyone is wrong, just don't understand.

The coolant thermostat is closed until the coolant hits about 190F, so almost no coolant is moving between the block and the radiator during warmup. Why does it matter what the fan, electric or mechanical, is doing during that time?

are people really that dumb?????? have you ever cranked your car with the hood up when its cold???? there is a considerable amount of airflow over the engine during warm up with the mech. fan!!! with the efan there is no air flow to cool the motor during warm up. if its 35 out then your mech. fan is blowing 35 degree air over your engine slowing down the warm up process quit a bit. like i said before my warm up time was CUT IN HALF with the efan.

whoa there tiger, no one said your idea was bad, anywho, idk what the fan clutch has to do but once i start moving mine disngages, truck usually warms up after a few miles, if its cold out, nothing will warm an engine better than time......

I may be dumb but I do know that the air flowing around the outside of the engine assembly only accounts for a tiny fraction of the cooling of an engine. I am not stupid enough to believe that your engine warms up twice as fast with an efan in place of a mechanical fan equipped with a clutch that all but disengages within the first minute after startup.

well if you don't belive it how bout comin down to check it out for your self....... i'm sure the difference between six min. and two min. is more than half. unless they use different math in michigan?????? oh and unless my truck had a bad mech. fan with less than 4,000 miles on the truck. mine did not shut off after 1 min.

I go from 1200 ft elevation to 1450 ft elevation in the first 1/2 mile out of my driveway. No problems warming up here.

I hear ya!!

No problems with mine.

I'm with the others that said to check your T-stat. Maybe you don't have the right temp one in there.

I'll I know is after hearing all the nightmares and horror stories about those efans.......I wouldn't put on in my truck if someone else paid for it and installed it. My stocker works just fine with no problems.

I like to stick with "if it ain't broken, why replace it".

*Some of you need to have a coffee before posting too....or maybe step back and count to 10.....yikes!!

It's an electrical fan that takes place of the mechanical fan on the motor.
