Truck shakes

I have a 2002 Ranger 3.0 liter flex fuel with an automatic transmission and 79,000 miles. Recently my truck has started shaking. It shakes most of the time when I crank it up and even worse when the air is on and once the rpm's rise up it goes away until I get on a hill and it's pulling low rpm's and when the transmission shifts down on the hill and pulls higher rpm's the shake goes away. I was just wondering if anyone might know what's causing this?

Check your spark plugs, one cylinder may not be firing. I had similar problems and that was my problem.

mine has been doing that too. i have a 99 3.0 flex fuel, with 120k. going up the start of a steep hill(before the auto tranny decides to drop a gear) it will shake around like 1500 rpm's it hasnt really bothered me until ty has brought it up.

any suggestions as to what it could be.

thnx

could be the torque converter, or it could be time for a tuneup.

if its shaking at idle and when you rev it, my guess is you need a tuneup.

I agree with you guys. I would change plugs also. My truck was running like crap and last Sat. I replaced plugs. 3rd set counting originals.Plugs had 40k onthem -Autolite double platnum. What a diff. You don't notice over time how performance starts to degrade.
