I'm just wondering every where i have looked on line is wrong on my firing order here is a picture of the firing order i have made from tracing down the wires, just wondering on peoples opinion on this, just so you know the truck runs smooth and no codes, every thing is ok

More info on truck its a 2001 Ford ranger 2wd 3.0l Flex fuel V6 (Engine vin code is "V")

Hate to resurrect an old thread but I just wanted to confirm the same situation for my 2001 Ford Ranger 3.0.

Yes, it depends on how the coil pack is mounted, firing order is the same, that doesn't change because that's set by the Cam and the "Matched Pairs" of pistons that are at Top Dead Center at the same time, to balance the engine

The coil pack just has 3 coils inside

These are the Matched pairs that both get Spark at the same time from the one coil in the pack
3/4 on 1 coil
2/6 on 1 coil
1/5 on 1 coil

The 2/6 are ALWAYS on the center coil in the pack, can be 6/2 or 2/6 doesn't matter, they both spark at the same time

The end pairs are decided by the computers wiring to the coil pack
3/4
2/6
1/5

Can be
1/5
2/6
3/4

Depends on the wiring from computer

And as said, 3/4 can be 4/3 same thing, and 1/5 can be 5/1

Usually the wiring connector from computer is near the 3/4 coil

With connector closer to the 1/5 coil

If in doubt, put 2/6 wires on the center coil
Then 1/5 and 3/4 at the end coils
If engine runs poorly, reverse the 1/5 and 3/4 to other end
so 50/50 chance of getting right the first time, just like the old distributor timing days, lol
