Catalytic converter
Alright i'm tryin to find out if my ranger has way to many. i started looking and on the exhaust from the manifold on the drivers side i have two small ones. on the exhaust from the manifold on the passenger side there's one small one. where the two pipes join i have two big ones. yes an amazing total of 5 catalytic converters. am i the only one or are there others. and no i'm not in california where exhaust emittions matters. i'm in Louisiana where we don't give a rats about emittions.

they serve to keep your truck from polluting everything, if the air gets worse, all they are going to do is put MORE cats on there. youll hear some people claim some HUGE gains from removing the cats, but youll really get nothing out of it, aside from an illegal emissions system, do a search on the cats, its been well discussed in the past, youll find the most info there, as the catalytic converter debate is a heated one. do whatever you like, i say NO

if we knew asbestos gave us cancer we probably would not have used it so widely in the 50's and 60's and certainly not in our homes?
you know a catalytic converter helps reduce polution
if it is working properly it should not rob you of any power
in fact with out it a modern gas engine looses both performance and economy
don't be a moron - stop screwing up your rural piece of americana - you will miss it someday

how about the county does not require cats and states and counties can change federal law just like the driving age is 16 federally but some states make it lower and its not illegal to do that look it up. its not gan hurt anything
"don't be a moron - stop screwing up your rural piece of americana - you will miss it someday" um no im not gana hurt anything. if your worried about the environment then a few people without cats are the least of your worries

chill out people i was only asking if 5 cats was really necessary, not if i or anybody else really cares about anybody's opinion. if you get a ticket or such from it your fault but if it is really robbing your engine of power then you do your thing.

yes you need them, they are high flow cats so you arent losing any power. they shouldnt be getting clogged unless you put bugs into your gas tank instead of gas...but thats just idiotic why would you do that, what were you thinking.
you wont gain anything by taking them off either except a little sound, but not much

i think its sad you think you would win a debate like that. like mike said "socially irresponsible" is a good word here. Im locking this now, if you really want a debate, make it in religious and politcal discussion
