Tow Capacity

purchased my STX without the tow capacity package, never thought i would need to tow something and now I am in the need to tow an over 3000lbs trailer. will my STX with no tow package be enough for a 3 day trip?

Welcome to the forum

Year of Ranger and engine/transmission combo will set towing weight limit

Google: Ford towing guide

There is one for each year, they list all Ford trucks so you have to look thru it to find Ranger specs, but they ARE THERE, lol

Sometimes the older ones are still available somewhere

Manual trans Rangers(vehicles) have much less towing capacity than automatics, nothing to do with Driver skill, automatics are just stronger at handling loads

Assuming you have a 2019+, the max towing for bumper pull is 3,000. Any more than that you will need a hitch receiver
installed. That will get you to 7,500. If the trailer doesn't have surge brakes, you will need to install a Trailer Brake Controller, and add
a 7-pin trailer connector.
