Engine install on my 98 4.0

1998 4.0 Ranger
Does anyone have a link or pdf of the instructions on how to pull/install the engine? I can probably get by putting it back in without it but a reference would be nice if needed. Also, what sensor is this?

On the right above water pump

That can be the ECT sensor(5 volt, for computer) or the Temp SENDER(12volt, for temp gauge in dash)

Pull out the rest of it, if it has a Cone shaped tip its ETC sensor
If it has a cylinder shaped tip its a sender

Sender may also only have 1 wire connector, red/white stripe wire
ECT sensor always had 2 wire

Their positions on the lower intake are interchangeable, the devices are NOT
You can see the other one in your first picture on the left of lower intake

No, I haven't come across a How-to on 4.0l OHV re-install

Try Googling: 1998 Ford ranger 4.0l lower intake removal and reinstall

The 1995 to 2000 Ranger used the 4.0l OHV engines(with new computer wiring), 2001 and up used the 4.0l SOHC so quite different
