So I have a 94 4.0 ohv but will be swapping an 03 body onto and I'm wanting to keep the wiring with PATs and upgrade to the newer 4.0. My biggest question is about the newer radiator, it's way wider than the ohv one and I'm wanting to keep the newer one for the increase in cooling capacity. I will be doing a body lift at the same time but was wanting to know if anyone else had been in a similar situation.

 

You will have alot of work ahead of you.

1983 to 1997 frames are pretty close to the same
1998 and up saw some width changes and supports were moved

If you are changing the body then you will be changing the rad support so don't see that as the problem.

 

I know the newer trucks have wider frames in the front and I'll be making cab mounts. The radiator is just so wide I didn't know if it would fit in between the frame rails. But what you're saying RonD makes sense about the rad support.

 

stick with the OHV engine

the OHV engines can be modified to generate some serious torque with the proper camshaft installed
