Broken wire

Broken wire
Truck is new to me. I got it and was told ecm board needs replaced, so currently its not running. Havent had time to mess with it yet, but Looking it over and seen a broken wire. Looking for help to where it connects. To dark for actual picture but this is one I downloaded and circled the grey connector that I'm referring to. Comes from wire harness to this connection and then has a few inches of wire and that's where it's broke.
Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the forum
We assume a Ranger and because of the sub-forum we assume you have a 4.0l SOHC.
But it is very helpful to include your vehicle specifics, i.e.
2001, 2002, 2003........ Ranger 4.0l SOHC, 2WD/4WD, manual/automatic trans
What you circled looks like the EGR modulator/solenoid, picture here: FORD OEM EGR VACUUM REGULATOR VS63 EMMISSION VALVE SOLENOID F63Z9J459AA | eBay
This device would not cause a no start, just a code.
If you need a new PCM(ecm, computer) it is not a simple plug and play, the PCM is "married" to the vehicle, your Keys have a chip inside that the PCM "reads" when you turn on the ignition, if that keys ID is not in PCM memory vehicle will not start.
Ford calls this PATS(passive anti-theft system)
A mobile locksmith with Ford software can add your keys to new PCM, or you can tow it to a Ford Dealer.
Keys can only be added when PCM is in the vehicle, you can't just take new PCM in to have keys added.
PCM = powertrain control module
It runs the engine electrics and if you have this, the automatic transmission
What are the symptoms of the no start?
When you turn on the key do dash lights come on?
Does the Check Engine Light(CEL) come on?
CEL means PCM is getting power.
Does the Theft light Flash rapidly?
That means PATS did not recognize key
And this disable starter motor AND fuel pump
