1997 Y Pipe Backwards Compatibility
Hi everyone, first post so please feel free to move/delete this if not in the appropriate thread.
Looking at buying a 97 ranger with a 4.0. Has a cat delete which I will want to rectify, can find a new cat no issues (such as this). Only problem is the flange from the y pipe has been cut off! Had a look on the internet and a replacement y pipe for a 95-97 seems like gold to find (this is the best I could find but is a full header assembly/too expensive). So my question is two fold. Firstly, would a y pipe from a 93-94 be compatible (such as this)? Visually they look very similar, I would just be concerned about 02 sensor location. Secondly, if the 93-94 doesn't fit, would the flange fit? Ie, could the flange just be cut off and used on a 95-97 cat? Looking at the cat linked the flanges look potentially compatible with a slightly different outer edge? Thanks for any help!
