2001 4x4 sohc rebuild

Hey first time posting here and i got a question for anyone who has rebuilt one of these pitas. got an 01 ranger 4x4 with the 4.0 sohc. i picked this up from a guy i worked with who drove it daily for years then all of a sudden it started running like balls and overheating. he took it to a shop and they told him it was a head gasket so he opted to sell it to me rather than fix it. i pulled the motor and tore it down because i knew that after 180000 miles the timing components were bound to be wore out and sure enough they had seen better days. after seeing the damage i tore the block down to see what kind of shape the bottom end was in and to no surprise the main and rod bearings were embedded in the kinda metal that aint supposed to be there! After that i decided that i wasnt going to save anything and that i would just rebuild that motor because the block is in good shape. I am wondering if anyone has had experience with buying a cheap timing set off of ebay or if i should get all my parts from either the ford house or the 480 dollar cloyes set from summit or if there is any other parts out there of a good quality for a good price. what i am wanting from this pickup is a lot of strong dependable miles for years to come nothing too high performance.
