4.0 best sounding exhaust???

hi im going to put a exhaust on my truck what muffler would sound the best. I want something with a good tone but not too loud so its annoying. I heard a flowmaster 3 chamber muffler sounds good.

I have a 50 series and like it. For normal driving you really don't here it. You only get a rumble at start up and a really nice growl and rumble about 3500 rpm's. I have heard both 40's and 50's on 4.0 sohc rangers and i prefer the 50 series.

I think the Borla proXS would suit you best. Even though I have a 3.0 with the Borla, it has been proved on these forums that they have a very agressively deep tone without being overly loud.

eek, you have your cats hollowed? It would sound ALOT better if you removed the gutted cats and put a resonater or a high flow one in its place.

With my headers my borla turbo (the more expensive version of the ProXS) sounds pretty good, dunno how they sound without headers or intake for that matter.

It sounds good with no muffler, at least on the 3.0, but be ready to hear a lot of burping in your exhaust as the backpressure is a lot less with no muffler, and you'll get a loss of torque.

i think it would cool if someone could catalog and make a little site of all the different exhaust setups that people have vids for. being specific as could be with the distcriptions.

going to be different here: i have magnaflow exhaust system dual out the rear. doesn't have a obnoxious sound, but a nice "throaty growl" also, with my 4.0 it seems to give the truck a little extra "pep"
