exhaust time. HELP!!!

Its time for some dual exhaust for my truck.

I have a 01 4.0 SOHC.

Im going for sound here, not so much performance (but i dont want to loose power).
I want a deep loud sound.
If i pick up a few extra horses thats cool, but im not in it for ALL power. Its gotta sound nice.

After researching, I have heard Borla is decent exhaust.

Anyone have some advice and something i can listen to?

This is going to start up a whole new war...there are alot of posts about exhaust...IMO, i have a single in dual out 40 series flowmaster, and i think it sounds great...rumbles when you let off the gas, and about 2500-3000 rpms it gets pretty loud and throaty

so far after all the testing ive seen and done..
if you want real performance without spending $800 on a Full Borla Catback
go with the Gibson split side.. ive seen it highly recommended by most retailers in
my area and it is a proven great performance gainer w/ torque and hp said to add up
to 15 horsepower and with the right mods 20 - 30 ftlbs of torque

yes i notice performance with borla and magnaflow, not so much with flowmaster, i think it was more sound than anything.

my borla isnt prolly what you would but it is the borla xl which is a longer muffler and very quiet, you want a borla proxs which has just as good of flow as my borla but adds sound.

BORLA!!!! End of story!

It sounds almost EXACTLY like flowmaster 40 series!!! (trust me i would know)

Since you like sound like me, your going to want to get the Borla Pro-Xs Center/Offset muffler (i have same thing) And u will defenitly see a performance gain...

Right Click save as the link in my sig to hear it.....

hope i helped!

I have a flowmaster and against what some people say I think I gained power. I know D you're going to disagree with me but I still use the fact that I can do a burnout easier and yeah it was stop watched but I lost some time to 60. And I can also idle up a steep drive way of my friends now when I couldn't before with stock - lame but it must mean something. And I hit my rev limiter getting onto the highway very quickly now too. Stock it was nearly impossible and now I can smack it easily. Even easier now with the K&N.

And I also don't get how people say that a flowmaster flows worse that stock or loses power. I mean if you had no muffler (just cats) everyone says you lose torque. If you put on a straight through muffler they say you lose torque. And when I saw a borla/dynomax ultra/and magnaflow it seemed to be pretty much straight through and bam... gain a lot of power. But then if flowmaster has more resistance wouldn't it make more torque? Doesn't make sense at all but I guess I'm just rambling because I'm bored.

Summary: I'd go flowmaster

ya are rambling.... lol

im guessing you have only had the flowmaster and stock?

me i have had dual magnaflow, dual flowmaster, and now SI/SO borla.i had the magnaflow for a year, flowmaster for 3 months, and now have hd the borla for 3 weeks, and i personally love the sound of the flowmaster, who wouldnt, but the poor mpg, poor power, limited air flow(i say that cause i couldnt get over 5200 rpm with my flowmaster), magnaflow was a real good muffler only problem was i thought i needed better sound. borla was just a luck thing, i got it for free and decided i would try it. good muffler prolly wont ever change agian.

Because they like it for sound....Borla gives you BOTH...

remeber we are talking about v-6 here so you arent really going to get a v-8 sound outta any muffler.
