Under hood "bonk" noise at key off
Hi guys and gals,
I'm driving a 2001 4.0 Ranger. I have an engine shut off noise that happens basically every time I turn the key to the off position. It happens at the end of my key off stroke, and is about a half of a second long.
With my driver window down, and the hood up, it sounds to me like a mid to lower-range "bonk." Almost as if flowing air is forcing a door shut. Listening under the hood narrowed it down to maybe the air intake, or intake manifold?
The sound is not metallic, it really sounds intake related. In the cab, with windows up, it is nearly unnoticed (unless you are listening for it).
Thanks
