Icon4 3.0 to a 4.0 questions

I am wanting more power in my 3.0 i have an 05 edge. I was thinking about going turbo but thats is more work than i want to do. So i was thinking about trading in just my3.o motor for a 4.0. how much work would that take because i want to keep my 5 speed trans. Will my trand bolt up to a 4.0 motor?

Trans is the same in 94, 3.0 and 94 4.0. My buddy in temple has the same truck with the 4.0 and we have the same tranny. Just drop a 302 in it lol. Turbo isnt actually that much work, its just a precision job or youll blow your engine (boost to high ect..) and runs about 1-2k.

No, the engine-to-transmission bolt pattern is different and some of the 4.0 transmission internals are upgraded.

I would just go with turbo man, unless you can find a tranny and 4.0 engine for cheap.

the turbo install probably wouldn't be any more work than swapping engines. might even be cheaper in the long run if you play your cards right.

4.0 doesn't share same trans mounts with any other ranger engines, other than the 2.9. but as Bob said, the 4.0 internals are stronger.
