Air System replacement and other stuff

Hey guys I just got a 2005 ranger with the 4.0L SOHC. I am looking at switching out the stock air intake system and wanted some pointers. I was looking at the K&N 57-2561 Fuel Injection Performance Kit Gen2, though with the cost I might just go with the stock replacement for a while. Also I have always used Motorcraft for oil and filters is there any reason to use a K&N oil filter and a different brand of oil (at least Synthetic Blend).

Thanks

Motorcraft is the best oil filter for a ranger. do the air box mod and a k&n drop in
