alright ive read the post but mine isnt like theirs,so here it goes.1997 4.0 ranger xlt,start it and the idle goes to about 2 grand,stays that way till it warms up,then goes down to about where it is suppose to be 750,anyway driving all is cool,i can shut it off and start it right back up, then the idle goes to 2 grand again for about a minute then drops back down,accelerate goes fine, get to a light 30 seconds later the idle drops to where is should,but it takes at least 30 seconds each time even after its warm,so i replaced the i.a.c and no change,checked all the lines for a vac. leak and nothing,whats my next 2 moves guys?1 mechanic said it was probably an intake gasket leak,but thats a 400 buc job and would rather try the simpler things first,any ideas? thnx bb

 

i think thats normal... mine does it.. i think its a Ford thing....
