4.0L OHV 4x4 Oil Pan - Removal with diff removed?

I have a 1998 Ranger 4.0L OHV 4x4 and its pretty much due for an oil pan gasket (265k-ish miles lol).

I'm replacing the hubs and axles with Explorer parts to get rid of the vacuum hubs, and while I have the front end apart, I'm thinking I might as well drop the differential and service it and replace the various seals as well.

I know the engine has to be lifted to remove the oil pan on 4x4 models, but what if the differential is already removed? Can it be done with the engine in its normal position?
