SOHC or OHV engine ?

My Ranger is a 2005, 4.0L V6, XLE Double cab with Auto shift. It was bought and I presume made in S.A. I've been told its an Aussie engine, a German motor, even its a chopped off American V8 ! Which engine do I have in this truck ? It doesn't matter which, I like it but I would like to know..

SOHC engine then, thanks. Where did it originate, is it US, German, Aussie in origin ? Nice motor though, a wee bit thirsty but nice.

i agree that the SOHC is a good/strong engine, but the OHV has the low end torque advantage that someone pulling would need.....
