Xcal or chip ?

just curious - do they make a superchip for 03 4.0L ranger
wanted something simple - with a noticible difference..
without spending 2-4K on a supercharger..

hi, thanks for the info. just wanted to know also - if this is a better way to spend 2 or 3 hundred, instead of wasting it on a CAI

If you have an automatic the xcal3 would be more beneficial. But I liked the underdrive pulley that I had on my 3.0L.. check out www.stuffforyourranger.com- that should give you plenty of ideas.

Agreed, tuner and underdrive pulley are the best bang for your buck mods.

I went with the XCAL 2 with a Rogue performance tune package. Didnt need the X3 cause I already had a scanguage.

Its OK, but in all honesty, I did not notice any gains in power. I am sure that a dyno would say otherwise, but there is no "seat of the pants" feeling of power gain. My MPG slightly increased.

CAll me stupid. But do you have to do all the pulleys or just the underdrive? And with just the under drive do i need to change the belt?

just the crank pulley. A new belt is needed.

If you have a system I would upgrade the alt pulley as well, just to handle that extra power your throwing at it.

This is all in the tune. Even on 87 octane you'll get a noticeable low end improvement with a good tune. 93 octane and you can easily spin the tires at 1/2 throttle.
