98 ranger in need of tune

i have a 98 ranger 4.0 ohv and im looking to build up my engine
first im going to get a tuner
then im getting some headers
then prob a cam
then head work
and finaly prob do the 4.3 big bore kit

so my question is what parts would you suggest and how i could go about building it i would like to do it in steps because i cant stand my truck being out of commission and because i dont have a steady income

Thanks

To be honest its not something that will be easy to do in pieces. Stroking the motor obviously requires its removal, and you might as well do the cam and heads then since the motor will already be completely torn down. You may want to look for another motor to build instead. That way you could take your time to do everything you listed, and when your ready to put it in your truck it will only take a weekend.

Build it all at once, it saves so much more work. I spent about 50 hours removing/building/installing my 4g63t when I put together my HKS engine. Took me about 10 hours of tuning after driving 1000 break in miles.
