I'd get some duct tape and have at it. Maybe toss in a flexible dryer hose for good measure.

Take the intake box snorkel out that's it. Don't bother putting crap on your truck.

I understand that but if you just attach it at the end of the stock pipe you will just suck in all kinds of hot air and you will possibly lose power. I wouldn't waste my money but that's up to you. There are adapter plates out there to bolt on a cone filter.

RedComet6342 Nov 6, 2009 08:28 PM

well i was gona get a heat shield or make one, and ive alreay bought it got it on and modified the plate to fit so i cant return it

whippersnapper02 Nov 6, 2009 08:32 PM

RedComet6342 Nov 6, 2009 08:37 PM

im saying its alreay ON i put it on monday and i bought the plate and modified it so i cant return it all i got left to do is add that heat plate and get it to stay up on its own

The crappy K&N FIPK kit uses a bent piece of metal that runs from the intake tube to the top alternator bolt. Maybe when you fab up a box you can have the bottom sit where the stock box sat.

RedComet6342 Nov 6, 2009 08:43 PM

yeah i was gona see if i can fab something up in my welding class while i work on my light bar

I was in the same boat as you, I got a K&N for dirt cheap so I had to use it. I told my dad what my plan was, and he took my design to his TIG welder at work. (he manages a plant that makes stainless restaurant equipment).

I knew I wasnt going to add any HP, it just looks cool and it sounds a little different.lol I am not a big fan of putting parts on my truck that I didnt male, but it was free.
